We Make Biking Accessible
DONATESupport Our Organization
It all started about three years ago when a group of us got tired of snow shoeing and figured there was a better way to get this done. We were exhausted of new snowfall taking multiple days to track-in for truly rideable conditions. Winter fat biking can be very enjoyable, however, not all riders enjoy hike-a-bike trail cutting. Ultimately, we decided to do it ourselves so the winter fat biking community can get out much faster and enjoy better trails. In just the few months of operation this past winter, the gratitude extended by riders and the social media “thank-you’s” have made our capital outlay and effort worthwhile. We look forward providing timely access to groomed trails for great fat biking in the future.
Where We Groom
Our first winter of operation was a learning experience. We gained valuable knowledge about the equipment, varying snow conditions, the trails, and access rights to the public land we groom. We are a registered MN entity and fully insured. We currently have permission from the United States Fish and Wildlife Agency to groom the river bottoms trail from 35W east to the refuge center near the Mall of America. The Three Rivers Park District also granted us permission to assist MORC grooming efforts at Murphy Hannerhan in Savage. We enjoy the full support of FreeWheel Bike and the opportunity to groom the course on Lake Minnetonka for its Thursday night fat bike races. Additionally, requests for grooming in other areas were starting to come in near the end of the season. This summer we will be modifying our equipment and manufacturing different types of groomers to deal with all the varying snow conditions we have encountered. Deep Woods Trail Groomers fully intends to make the trails better each time we groom.
Support Our Organization
Deep Woods Trail Groomers does not get paid by the agencies responsible for the public lands that we groom. Your donations and financial support are greatly appreciated. Our current needs include a second Snow Dog groomer for the ability to run tandem with different style grooming equipment.
Please give us the when you see us on the trails!
